DIY 3D Decorations

Image

The above photo is of my nineteenth birthday party which was themed as a vintage tea party. My very artistically talented aunty taught me how to make these 3D streamer decorations that really helped set the scene. And now I’m going to show you!

ImageFirstly you’ll need some pretty paper of your choice, I decided to go with magazine cut outs. You’ll also need a pair of scissors, some stencils that I printed off from the internet, a texter and a sewing machine.  ImageImageImageStart by tracing the stencil onto the paper, you’ll need even numbers but you can do as many as you want. I did 8 so that meant that there will be 4 shapes on my streamer. The more you have the longer the streamer. And then cut them out.ImageTake the first two of the same shapes and sew them together down the middle so you can fold it down the middle when we’re done.ImageTake another two of the same shape and sew it on to the previous two you sewed together. Continue doing this until you have sewed them all together and it makes one long streamer. ImageFold the shapes in half down the middle so they look 3D and then ‘TADA!’ You have a very quirky, eye catching 3D streamer that will help bring you party, or even just the corner of your bedroom to life!Image

It’s almost the end of March and Autumn has well and truly left it’s mark with warm days and cool nights. How is anyone suppose to dress for that?! Well, I’ve definitely embraced a dark smokey eye for the colder months and these boots by Betts are the perfect blend of trendy and comfortable that allow me to trek around my university campus whilst feeling pretty fly, if I do say so myself. What have been your ‘can’t live without’ looks for this season?

Bellabox – March

ImageImage

I was very excited to receive my first Bellabox, I have always loved the idea of these monthly bundles of joy but never got around to picking one and signing up.

I chose Bellabox because they’re a Melbourne based company, they do however ship nationwide, don’t you worry. I feel very strongly about supporting local companies especially when it’s an industry you dream to work in one day. The service was super speedy, their packaging was delightful and their information card was playful and quirky, I really can’t say one negative comment on my experience with Bellabox so far.

 In my box I received:

  • The Ocean Essence Summer Breeze Shower Gel, which I am yet to try but it looks like it has potential to be great.
  • The Designer Brands Lip Pencil in Nude, I’ve swatched this little guy and the colour looks lovely as does the formulation.
  • The Suigo Ultimate Control Shampoo and Conditioner which I used earlier this afternoon, it smells amazing and I think is something that will help me get out of my hair rut.
  • The Clinique High Impact Lipstick in the shade Extreme Pink. This was very exciting to find in my box as I’m very familiar with Clinique, this will be the first lip product that I’ve had from them and it definitely lives up to expectations especially with SPF 15.
  • And finally the little bonus gift was the Swisse Active Energy Bar, I had the flavour Chocolate and Coconut, unfortunately I’m not crazy about coconut so hopefully my brother will enjoy that one.

I plan on subscribing to Bellabox for a long time not only to support something home grown but because I genuinely had a great experience with them and will be recommending them to all of my girlfriends as positively as I am to you, my readers.

Do subscription beauty boxes excite you as much as me? Let me know in the comments!

Topshop Highlighter

Topshop highlighter in Crescent Moon, otherwise known as my holly grail has been one of the best beauty buys for me in the last six months.

For years I had lusted after the MAC mineralised skin finishes but could never justify the price when I could get similar results with a shimmery eye shadow. Six months ago I found myself in Topshop swatching the lipsticks when this little beauty caught my eye and there was no way I could leave the store without it, costing only $19 it was meant to be.

I find that the shade Crescent Moon is sublet and you’re not left with chunks of glitter, like a disco ball on your cheeks, just a healthy glow. I will admit that I had to give the packaging a bit of a scrub before taking these pictures as grubby fingers covered in leftover foundation mark like a b*tch. That aside it’s cute and is the ultimate cheek product that I sorely miss when I leave the house without putting it on.

In the above pictures you can see the product taken with flash in the third one and without flash in the fourth. Not a disco ball insight if you ask me. What do you think?

The Birth of an Amateur Photographer

It’s been nearly a week since received my very first Digital SLR camera. I can’t say there has been any masterpieces just yet but I’m definitely picking up a few skills here and there as I’ve gone a long.

My camera is the Canon EOS 600D and has an 18-55mm lens, all pretty standard really. I justified the splurge by saying ‘it would really benefit my university assignments’ and ‘I’ll need good quality pictures of when I’m overseas’. And so without a second thought and a quick tap of the finger tips against the keyboard I found myself a pretty good deal on eBay.

As of yet I haven’t had much to take photos of hence my kitten Jazz and my dog Lucy were the perfect models to practice on.

Flash by Jimmy Choo

As fragrances being one of the many things that will ultimately come down to personal tastes through and through, I am very picky when it comes to finding a signature perfume as I’m sure you are yourself.

With the ever so helpful advice from a sales assistant at Cosmetic Fragrance Direct I came across the brand spanking new Flash by Jimmy Choo and kept coming back to it despite taking numerous whiffs of other perfumes in the store. I explained to the staff that I was a big fan of Gardenias and listed a few perfumes I had previously loved and then off she went around the store hand picking out what she thought would be just right for me.

Flash has top notes strawberry, pink pepper and tangerine, middle notes of tuberose, jasmine and white lily, and then base notes of white wood and heliotrope so it was the perfect mix of sweet fruit and white floral scents for my everyday fragrance. The staying power is unbelievable and a little goes a long way, there’s no need to bathe in this stuff.

Overall I’m very pleased with my purchase and look forward to all the adventures I will have while wearing this little beauty.
